Meditation: Freedom from addiction of alcohol, drugs and smoking

Many people at the age of 60, 70 realizes that they are addicted to alcohol, drugs or smoking. They come forward and say with much pride as well as with a hidden guilt that, “Oh, I have tried so many things but this addiction is not going what to do? Is there any way I can get rid from this addiction?” The simple answer to this question is that there is no willingness from within to get rid from this addiction. If there would be any willingness then you would never ask such question in life time.

We must understand that any addiction is pointing at two directions one is leading towards creativity and other route is leading towards past memories. When you are turned towards creativity you will create a something brilliant which the world has never seen before. When you are turned towards past memories you are down trodden with all the rage, ego, greed, pain, suffering, sadness, depression, guilt, anger, frustration, revenge and negative thinking.

Spiritually there is nothing good or bad but the when you drink alcohol or take drugs or smoke you don’t know in which direction it will lead you. To know where it will lead you check out your past incidences. So now choice is yours whether you really want to go in those directions with the help of alcohol, drugs or smoking or not.

When you meditate there is only one route that is reaching towards the source. If you are looking for any help then that is only best way coz it can take you to the source. Alcohol, drugs and smoking has one route which may reach towards creativity but still it is not reaching towards source. So you have to take your choice.

If we understand this from another dimension then alcohol, drugs and smoking is nothing but an escape. It is the mind game. Whenever we feel empty within or lonely or we are in stress we need some support and these are the tools the society and business industry has given us in the name of alcohol, drugs and smoking. Thousands of advertisements are bombarded everyday to provoke the mind for the consumption of alcohol, drugs and cigar with variety of flavour, colour, perfume and package with an apealing punch line such as cigrate in my hand is just like a man etc.

The weakest minds are hypnotized with such punch lines and they register it into their subconscious mind. The moment subconscious mind accepts a belief related to alcohol, drugs and smoking it will activite immediately and you are into addiction. If the subconscious mind will reject then you are out of addiction.
Meditation crystilizes both the conscious as well as the subconscious mind and therefore meditation is the fastest way to get rid from such addiction. Meditation is not a technique or a tool to be free from addiction of alcohol, drugs and smoking but it is the way…
