The room is full of darkness when one who is sitting in that room discovers  this truth that  the room is full of darkness that very moment is important  because that very moment has the power  either to bring radical transformation in that being or  it may lead to more darkness… and therefore if one sings asto ma sad gamaya… meaning from this untruth (darkness) lead me to the truth (light) tamaso ma jyotir gamaya meaning from this darkness (untruth) lead me to the light (truth) mrityor ma amritam gamaya meaning from this death (untruth) lead me to non-death/eternity/immortality that which never dies but which exists till eternity (truth)  by singing  or chanting the above sloka there is no guarantee that one may lead towards the TRUTH, LIGHT, ETERNITY So one finds that there is darkness in the room  and when one gets aware that the room is really getting darker what one does ...
